If you notice that Magritte made the figures broken on purpose by using the rule of the perception that is the clousure you can understand why he is playing with the real world and fantasy. Therefore Magritte, Dali and Escher are the main painters who used the most powerful rules of the perception.

By the end of this week(last week of October) we will be done an illustration of Halloween for your class on the classdoor to participate on the competition of highschool

Challenge of Halloween mural _Figure contrasting over the ground.
You can make outlines and silhouttes of cats,witches,ghosts,vampires ,punpkins ,owls ,bats,haunted houses or fantastic castles..
Also you can infill that silhouttes playing with the colour by contrasting figure and ground.
Notice how the witch, cats and tbe hounted castle filled with purple is contrasting with the big moon and the sea thanks to the colorful background plenty of green colours.
In order to make an optical illusion,
It is very important too that the shape of hat is following the way.
Lastly i played with the shape of bats, making the sensation of depth by using different sizes.
After watching this example you can make your own illustrations based on the mistic and terrifying Halloween. You can cut different sizes of cats, bats, owls and then you have to use the silhouette like a stencil.. It means that you can paint with watercolor over that.
Next step you can fill it but you have to make a contrast with the background that can be a landscape with a castle on the top of a hill.
You know that if you paint the shapes with purple and pink or red colour using the contrast with the opposite colour on the wheel that is green or if you use oranges shapes will be contrasting with blue colour.
If you follow this simple process you can make a difference and perhaps win the competition!!!!!So let get started!!!

Process
What is the strategy of making a successful competition 'mural for Halloween?
As you can see we use the shape of bats by changing the colour and shape to get a better composition. If you think about the idea before you will make it successfully.
Focus on one element like the center of your illustration or the main figure has to be stronger and then you play with the contrast of colours.

Examples of perception' secrets
These images made by myself can be an example because i am going to ask you to do a logo os Art class and a second one in which we could see a simbol with you may identify with your name as welll.
The images are based on law of figure-background with the letters of EPV and the law of similarity .
.Notice what shape is made when several and similar figures or elements are situated close each other.
In this case i chose the figure of one eye repeated but changing the colour and size.That´s why this simbol or icon can represent our class of Art or EPV.
As you can see I play with the law of figure-background and colour contrast in the last example of logo of Art class.
Secondly you may logos of fishes by following the rule of clousure.
Lastly some shapes of human figures and hearts by following the rule of similarity because you may interprate it as a flour.The meaning is related with solidarity and union.
PERCEPTION :
New challenge:Understand and practise the most important laws of perception by making your own logos and icons.
Cosette will explain her own icons and logos and we are sure to it will be really motivating.
We will look at many examples and then i will ask you to make two icons.
First it all,we will see the article of this lesson that you can see in my padlet with the tittle of principles of perception .We will focus on the law of figure-background and also the law of closure.
You will see how easy is understanding this theory by analizyng examples of logos showed.Let´s go¡¡
Metaphor and simbolim.
The first challenge is almost done .You got to define an outline of a person who could define yourself and then you filled with a colorfull landscape and also other icons or visual elements you may chose in order to make a simbolic image of your ideal identity.
We ´ve studied how Magritte got to surprise us by combining two images until this new experiment.
I´m going to ask you to look for two images of Chema Madoz that represent some idea related with peace or war and then you can be inspired by your images chosen and paint it ..
Take into account the new exhibition of this fabolous photo´artist in Madrid in which the author invites to us to think over the nonsense of cruelty and violence.
Let´s do a similiar simbol .
if we want represent the idea of peace we can do it by painting the image of a dove like for example the sculpture of Picasso in which dove is the simbol of resilliance during the second world war.
First it all,try to draw the shape and then try to capture the volume with shading light and shadow forms.
Finally,notice how the shape makes a contrast with the background thanks to the clear yellow colour which is also the opposite and complementary purple colour .
